Role Description A data-intensive position, the Catastrophe Modelling Analyst works with other catastrophe modellers, actuaries and broking professionals to help clients better understand their exposure to catastrophe risk. By analyzing client exposure data and applying it against catastrophe simulation models, they produce loss estimates that enable brokers to construct effective reinsurance programs for clients.
Key Responsibilities • Preparing exposure data for client projects • Assessing data quality and making necessary assumptions for modelling; analyzing changes in exposure and the associated impact of catastrophe results • Using commercial and proprietary probabilistic models (Softwares) • Analyzing how results and risk measures change due to the application of various proposed reinsurance alternatives • Participating in Solvency II and R&D efforts
Essential • Graduate degree in natural science (hydrology, hydraulics, meteorology, seismology), actuarial, statistics, insurance or other relevant discipline • English fluency, additional language skills are a desirable attribute • Intermediate to advanced PC literacy – Excel and Access
Desirable • Programming skills – VBA, SQL • Relevant experience in the field of Actuarial/Catastrophe Modelling/Geographical Science/General Insurance/GIS/Database Management
